can i get a headband?

I have been hesitant about the whole hippie-headband trend thing. It took me awhile to warm up to the idea at all, and then was never sure how it was supposed to look on a girl with bangs...

Plus, all the headbands that I've liked are ones that I've seen on Etsy or other online stores (i.e. I can't try them on and convince myself).

So I was really excited when I found this little guy at Old Navy (I know, right?) for $6.50.

The rosette is made of raw edged twill--I bought mine in khaki, but stood there debating between this one, and the ballet pink, for several minutes.

Tough choice. Not gonna lie.

Today I got comment on my want list & need list post. I would love to give someone credit, but they left the comment anonymously ( Which is totally okay! I don't mean to single you out, anonymous :] ) suggesting that I try out We Love Colors for a cheaper version of those cute J. Crew anklet socks that I have been coveting for months now.

Umm... Jackpot!!

Not only are these socks bright and lightweight, which is what I was going for (and couldn't find elsewhere), they are mix and match! They are sold individually and the site seriously has every color imaginable. Amazing!

They aren't the anklet height like the J. Crew socks, but they could be scrunched down or even old-school folded down. Way cute.

Oh, and it gets better. They are only $3.50 each :] I won't have to feel guilty about dropping $24.50 on some trendy socks. And my husband won't be way annoyed.

As for shipping...it is a flat $5, no matter how much you order. Again--amazing!

I am a happy girl! Now I just have to decide on colors... Decisions, decisions.

Aren't they great? And there are a ton more. The neon pink and charcoal are a definite yes. I can't decide how many I should get, and which other colors. I think I am pretty much in love with that bright blue, too... Oh man.

second (and third and fourth) weddings... to the same dude

I just loved this post I read on Keely's blog, asleep to dream. It's called How to Plan a Wedding in One Week. It's a little lengthy, and somewhat of a thank you note in itself, so there is a lot of name dropping--but there are some cute, romantic moments that I am a sucker for. Keely had a wedding in Mexico in 2006, but her and her husband skipped all the paperwork, so it wasn't technically legal. This past Christmas, they had a little second wedding to celebrate the legal union part!

I originally found this via Elizabeth Dye's blog. She made Keely's original wedding dress for their Mexican ceremony in 2006.

I love weddings. In case you didn't know that yet (umm... where have you been?!).

When my husband hits the big time and we're rich and famous, I want to be like Heidi and Seal, and have a new wedding for every anniversary. They were originally married in Mexico as well, and have been renewing thier vows on every anniversary since (3 times).

This was their latest (4th) wedding, in LA, due to Swine Flu scares, with a White Trash theme.

How amazing is that?! Oh yeah, Heidi is definitely pregnant there, too. Classic.

I think my husband would totally be down with a White Trash Wedding, but I think I would want a couple more pretty ones first. :]

First I think I'd go for a 50s vibe... Something like this.

want list & need list

What I want...

1. These fabulous colorful anklet socks from J. Crew to wear with heels to work. I would wear them as with rolled up jeans or pencil skirts. Their 3-pack is $24.50 which is quite ridiculous to me, because after all, they are socks... But I have looked elsewhere and can't find anything comparable. And I have been looking since the fall. Yeah, I want them that bad.

2. A $99 iPhone. It is finally time for an upgrade on my AT&T plan (I have been bumming off of hand-me-down phones for the last two years, since my LG Shine's screen "mysteriously" cracked to smithereens on my honeymoon a mere 3 months after I upgraded). Not sure when I will actually get around to upgrading though... Perhaps at the end of the month when I get my quarterly bonus? We will see!

What I need...

Some amazing layering tanks from Shade.

These are my layering staple, and it shows. I have like 10 of these, and they are literally all wearing out at the same time because I wear one every day. My white one is starting to look dingy, my green one's hem is unraveling, I literally wore a hole in my black one... the list goes on.

These tanks are the ultimate. Long, so even if I have a shorter layer on, my midriff never shows. High enough, so even if I have a lower layer on, I don't give a peep show. And wide enough straps that my bra never shows. 

I searched long and hard for this modest tank top. The company is called Shade Clothing, and yes, they are based in Utah, and sell modest clothing to Mormons. So while I am not as strict of a dresser as (some) Mormons, I commend this company for offering stylish options to us prudes :]

The outfit I want to wear today...

This is exactly what I want to be wearing today. It's a chilly 52˚ outside (I know... wah, wah).

I love this because all of it is from Forever 21, and therefore, all affordable.

I really have those boots, and I am so in love with them. The rest of the outfit is similar to stuff that I own, other than the purse. I love that bag. However, in person, it is itty bitty. I know that being itty bitty makes it Harajuku-chic, which I am all for. But I just can't deal with an itty bitty purse. I am a bigger-the-better kind of purse girl.

So the scale in this picture makes me happier :)

Why I love :: Like I mentioned in my August designer of the month, I am keeping it local while I am still an Oregonian!

I discovered twigs & honey about a year ago and was immediately twitterpated. When I soon found out that Myra is from SALEM of all places, I about fell off of my chair. She is pretty much my Etsy idol. I want to be her. The fact that she is creating such fabulous pieces, and doing so well out of Salem, totally inspires me. Not to mention that she was a Geography and Environmental Science major! ...I know, right?

Myra uses fabulous and unique materials that create amazing palletes of color and texture. Details, details, details. I especially can't get enough of her birdcage veils.

Favorite piece(s) of the moment :: I couldn't choose just one! So I broke my own rule... When I make the rules, I am allowed to fudge a little.

Why I love :: I am detail obsessed. And this girl's got it. Extremely intricate, luxurious fabrics (either to the hand or to the eye), with details so interesting that you have to study it twice to catch them all. She has fabulous boleros, custom wedding dresses, as well as (drumroll) wedding dress redesign. ...just add sentiment to details, and I am hooked.

Favorite piece of the moment ::

Gorgeous cream linen bolero jacket. I can't get over the detailing. The more I stare, the more I get lost in it. According to her listing, "Embellishments include antique lace, vintage embroidered and french knotted linen, raw-edged linen ruffles, and cream colored soutache embroidery scrolls." A stunning collection of romantic textures, all rolled into a structured couture piece.
